Trading restrictions (Georgia)

Trading restrictions imposed against Georgia

  • International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF)
    The Georgia flag has been declared as a "flag of convenience" by the ITF's Fair Practices Committee.
  • United Arab Emirates
    Georgian flagged vessels are banned unless they are carrying valid classification certificates issued by the International Association of Classification Societies ("IACS").

Trading restrictions imposed by Georgia

  • Abkhazia Ports Closed
    On 25 May 1995 the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic of Georgia adopted Resolution No. 289-10 which stipulates that the port of Sukhumi and the smaller ports of Abkhazia are closed "to all navigation whatsoever."

    The Georgian ports of Batumi and Poti remain open for navigation.
