Crew Issues

Our current regulations that all foreigners (including joining crew) must get ‘Taiwan Entry Visa’ before   their arrival in Taiwan, and they can only apply to Taiwanese embassy and/or consulates in abroad with Taiwan local ship agent’s ‘Invitation Letter’ for the visa. But except the following eligible 41 nationalities who may enjoy ‘Visa Exempt Entry’ and enter into Taiwan for 30 days of stay without visa, provided they hold more than 6 months valid of passport.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. , and Vatican City State.
     
The nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 30 days:
Australia, Canada, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, U.S.A.

Besides above 41 nationalities, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand & Vietnam holding their own country’s passport together with valid entry visa obtained from any of USA, Canada, Japan, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Euro Schengen (including Permanent Resident Cards) can apply via via web side on line.

If joining crew who is out of the above listed countries, the ship owners must inform their Taiwan local   agents of the details of those on-singers as early as possible enabling their agents to send the ‘Invitation Letter’ to Taiwanese embassy/consulates in abroad with copy to ship owners or crew manning agents enabling them to obtain visa from our Taiwanese embassy/consulates in abroad.

 
Crew change possible, but the on-signers must obtain Taiwan Entry Visa (see above Item - 1) in advance, and off-signers must have return air ticket.
 

No restrictions on crew shore leave, except P.R.Chinese crew and Burmese crew, the local agents may apply to Immigration Officers for issuing shore pass to all other countries' crew.


Japan,  the Phillipines and the USA have their consulates in Kaohsiung.
