This feature is just the first of many changes that the BIMCO Shipping KPI System will introduce this year to make it more user-friendly.
“The Shipping KPI System is constantly being improved and the automatic sign in was one of the easier solutions to implement to help make life easier for BIMCO members” says Peter Lundahl Rasmussen, Head of Maritime Information at BIMCO.
“Our goal for 2018 is also to refine and update the key performance indicators (KPIs) so each KPI reflects what’s happening in the shipping industry. Shipowners need to be able to add their ship data quickly and easily too and be able to compare their fleet against current industry standards” adds Peter.
The BIMCO KPI System uses a unique standard of 64 different KPIs. This allows the user to produce ship reports and benchmark ships and fleets across different types and sectors. The data collected is anonymised, so it does not compromise commercially sensitive information.
BIMCO provides the Shipping KPI System free of charge to BIMCO owner members - except for a one-off nominal set-up fee.

Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.
The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
