We hope you are enjoying the Bulletin. Over the course of 2018 we will be trialling some new ideas and would really like your feedback. Do you have any shipping issues you would like us to cover in future editions? Just write to us on the email below.
In this edition , Angus Frew Secretary General & CEO at BIMCO, shares his views on 2018 with a focus on the environment and upcoming regulations.
Throughout the year, BIMCO will continue to discuss CO2 emissions, sulphur and the other environmental issues with regulators, with our industry partners and with our members, and we are dedicated to finding the most practical solutions to all of them he says. Read more on Angus’s insight into the shipping industry on the welcome page .
We also share about the “Happiness Index”, this is an ongoing study into how those at sea feel about a range of key areas which impact them. Gaining an insight into seafarers’ lives, and exploring their feelings about key facets of life at sea, gives shipping companies valuable insight. Seafarers should fill in the Happiness Index with every trip.
BIMCO’s innovative new solution for editing charter parties and contracts, called SmartCon, was launched recently in Singapore. SmartCon is not just an editing tool, it includes a range of complimentary products giving users immediate access to relevant explanatory notes, eLearning and BIMCO members can email BIMCO’s Support and Advice department from within the document. Hear what the delegates had to say about SmartCon at the launch.

Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.
The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
