Rutile sand

Description
A brown to black, fine-particled and abrasive mineral obtained from sands. Shipped dry. May be dusty. Bulk density: 2,500 - 2,700 kg/m3. Non-IMSBC Code information: Insoluble in water. Used for hardening steels; for welding and in ceramics, ie, industrial metallurgical purposes, including preparation of certain fluxes and alloys. Also a source of titanium dioxide for the production of steel.  Extremely valuable.
