Immigration restrictions for crew changes
Vessels coming from and going to ports in the following country's port are now permitted to conduct crew changes through Port of Fujairah Immigration:
This represents the lifting of the ban on crew changes for vessels with last and next port calls in these countries.
However, crew members from the above countries are not permitted to join or disembark through the Port of Fujairah Immigration.
Palestinian, Somalia, Kenya, Iraqi and Yemeni nationals disembarking in Fujairah that need to apply for a Seaman or Visit Visa must have the following supporting documents:
- Certificate of Competency
- Higher Education Certificate or Degree
- Only Higher Education Certificate or Degree
The visit visa takes a minimum of two working days for processing on an urgent basis.
Shore leave regulations
Fujairah Port & Immigration officials have advised that Shore Leave is valid for a maximum of 12 hours or until mid-night, whichever is earlier.
The shore leaver must pass through port immigration and duty officer must have updated their system before these deadlines. Failure to follow these deadlines may affect permission for next shore leave for the concerned person(s).
Shore Leave applications will be accepted upto 24 hours in advance. Agents must double check the requests and ensure there are no cancellations as this puts a strain on the limited manpower resources available at immigration office and affects regular transactions.
Advance approvals for Off-Signers:
Some months ago, this facility was discontinued due to too many cancellations and agents submitting requests too far in advance. With immediate effect, requests will be accepted up to a maximum of 24 hours before arrival of off-signing crew to avoid discomfort to the crew waiting for approval or asking vessels to wait offshore. Under normal circumstances 12 hours is more than sufficient for approval unless there is a problem.
Seaman visas for joining crew:
Once approved, the visas are valid for 14 days and any cancellation/re-application is bound to take some time and proper explanations have to be provided for the delay. All principals are advised to ensure agents get the correct information on the arrival dates of on-signers so that above limit can be adhered to.
