Compulsory Insurance Certificate for All Vessels Calling at Italy
From 10 August, 2012 as per EU directory 2009/20/CE, all vessels calling at Italian territory with a GRT over 300 tons will have to submit a copy of their insurance certificate to the local Harbor Master before arrival, in order to obtain berthing authorisation.
The certificate must include the following:
· Name of the vessel, IMO number, port of registry
· Type and length of the certificate
· Owner’s company name and principal address
· Issuing place
· Must be in English, French or Spanish. If different, a certificated translation in one of the said languages has to be provided.
