General Information

Currency The monetary unit is the Peso, divided into 100 centavos. Notes areissued in 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 pesos and coins o 1, 5, 20 and 40 centavos are in circulation. Import or export of Cuban currency is prohibited. Master's unused funds must always be returned to agent before departure. Further cash is obtainable at the next Cuban port. No crew member may be in possession of any amount in excess of that received from the Master, which is entered in the special money control formular issued for each person on board. Foreign currency must be declared, collected and sealed. Customs Copies of the Cuban Port Regulations, which are very strict, will be handed over to the Master on vessel's arrival. Master is under obligation to make these regulations known to each person on board. Non-compliance with the rules will result in the impositions of considerable fines. Any kind of personal effects must be declared, stating where in the ship it is placed, an all effects in excess of 1 item must be collected and brought under seal to avoid confiscation and heavy fines.
