It is with great sadness that BIMCO announces the unexpected death of its Head of Maritime Security, Mr Giles Noakes on Wednesday 10 May.
The Legal Committee (LEG) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) convened for its 111th session from 22 to 26 April 2024 at the IMO Headquarters in London. The session was aimed at critical legal issues affecting the maritime industry ranging from seafarer welfare to the regulation of autonomous shipping and to the attacks in the Red Sea.
On 1 January 2024, ports and authorities around the world will need to follow new requirements from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to use a “single window” to exchange data electronically. The requirement is an important step towards a more digital and efficient maritime industry. To gain insight into how advanced the digital process is today when ships call at ports, BIMCO has teamed up with other industry organisations to launch a survey.
