BIMCO and ISCO have launched two new spill response contracts to make the task of arranging clean-up services following a spill incident significantly easier to negotiate in an emergency.
Much of the shipping industry relies on BIMCO standard contracts. The contracts provide a familiar and secure contractual base on which parties can freely negotiate. However, the trust in the standard forms is undermined by fake copies that contain errors or even deliberately hidden changes to the wording. BIMCO wants your help to combat the industry’s often unknowing use of counterfeit copies of BIMCO forms.
BIMCO’s new DISMANTLECON contract, the first global standard contract designed for the dismantling and removal of offshore structures in the energy sector, is now available and aims to provide a balanced set of terms and conditions to both parties in the process.
BIMCO’s Documentary Committee approved a new set of standard bunker terms, developed by a cross-industry group, in New York on 2 May. The BIMCO Bunker Terms 2018 improve on the previous edition with a maximum limit of the parties’ liabilities – a key change that will lead to wider adoption of the contract.

It includes the most popular and common contracts such as bills of lading, time and voyage charter parties as well as sale and purchase and newbuilding contracts.
BIMCO has published a revised and updated version GENCON 2022 - one of its flagship contracts within its portfolio of standard contracts for the maritime industry. The revisions reflect significant changes in the regulatory landscape since the contract was last updated.
BIMCO has published a Contract Authenticity Clause to encourage parties issuing contracts based on a BIMCO form to agree to use one obtained from an authorised source such as SmartCon.
BIMCO has established a subcommittee to work on a global standard contract for the transport and installation of offshore wind turbines. The project has been launched to support the offshore wind industry as the global demand for more renewable sources of energy increases.
