New gas tanker form paves the way for revision of ASBATANKVOY

BIMCO and the Association of Ship Brokers & Agents (U.S.A.), Inc. (ASBA) have approved a voyage charter party, ASBAGASVOY, for publication to serve the growing gas tanker industry. Work will now begin to revise ASBATANKVOY, one of the most used tanker charter parties in the world.

IMO Maritime Single Windows: BIMCO survey reveals demand for standardised solutions

From 1 January 2024, ports and authorities around the world will need to follow new requirements from the IMO to use a “single window” platform to exchange data electronically. A survey conducted by shipping industry stakeholders including BIMCO has revealed a strong demand for a streamlined, standardised Maritime Single Window (MSW) system.

BIMCO submits paper calling for the IMO to develop a digitalisation strategy

The importance of maritime digitalisation has significantly increased over the past few years. As a result, BIMCO has submitted a paper to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) advocating for the development of a comprehensive strategy on maritime digitalisation. The IMO Committee on Facilitation will discuss the paper at meetings on 8-12 April with the aim to exploit the potential of digitalisation, including efficiency, safety, and sustainability in ship design, ship operation and port call activities. The paper has been submitted in conjunction with China, Liberia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the ISO (International Organization for Standardization).

BIMCO launches survey to gain insight and encourage maritime digitalisation

On 1 January 2024, ports and authorities around the world will need to follow new requirements from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to use a “single window” to exchange data electronically. The requirement is an important step towards a more digital and efficient maritime industry. To gain insight into how advanced the digital process is today when ships call at ports, BIMCO has teamed up with other industry organisations to launch a survey.
