The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 103) meeting of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) was held remotely from 5 to 14 May. One of the issues discussed at the meeting - among a very comprehensive list on the agenda, was new measures to mitigate for containers lost at sea.

MEPC 81 adopts and approves a raft of measures to protect the marine environment

The IMO’s Marine Environmental Protection Committee at its 81st Session adopted amendments to mandatory instruments and approved a series of measures in order to protect the marine environment- from emission control areas in Canada and Norway through to electronic ballast water record books. Shipping industry needs to talk market-based measures
