New Bauxite circular out warning on new hazard of bauxite cargoes in bulk

A new Bauxite circular warning about a new hazard of these cargoes relating to moisture has been issued by the IMO following the meeting held by its Sub-committee on the Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC) last week. This new IMO bauxite circular supersedes CCC.1/Circ.2 and issues new guidance on the carriage of bauxite cargoes.

Ashok is Manager, Maritime Technology and Regulation at BIMCO and is responsible for coordinating BIMCO’s initiatives on a variety of technical, operational and regulation related matters. He represents BIMCO at international organisations such as International Maritime Organization(IMO), International Association of Classification Societies(IACS) on aforementioned matters. He is educated as a master mariner, dynamic positioning officer, and marine lead auditor. He also holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Copenhagen Business School. He is an experienced seafarer with 18 years of experience in the maritime sector. He started his career with A.P.Moller Maersk and has sailed on a variety of ships including containers, car carriers, oil tankers (crude and product), gas tankers (LPG and LNG) in the maritime shipping (13 years) and platform supply vessels & cable layers in the offshore sector (3years). Ashok has also been a visiting faculty at the marine colleges in India, where he taught navigation, safety and cargo related courses to budding seafarers. He is certified as a lead auditor and integrated marine auditor by LRQA (Lloyds register quality assurance). He has conducted quality, safety and security audits on several ship types and helped prepare ships for external class audits (ISM, ISPS and MLC audits), and industry vetting inspections such as OCIMF-SIRE, CDI inspections.

Bills of Lading Essentials in Spanish

The Bills of Lading Online Seminar consists of six sessions conducted over three days, each session lasting 70 minutes with a short break in between. The seminar focusses on the practical aspects of Bills of Lading (B/L) within the context of various essential documents required for international trade transactions. The seminar covers international conventions and highlights the crucial role of B/L for all stakeholders involved in cargo transactions.

Documentary Committee adopts string of important contracts and clauses

When BIMCO’s Documentary Committee (DC) met on 11 October in Copenhagen, it approved two new clauses and two revised versions of existing contracts. The new standards are being finalised for publication and will soon be made available for use on SmartCon and on the BIMCO website accompanied by explanatory notes.
