Amorphous sodium silicate lumps

Description

Mandatory application: this cargo entry applies only to amorphous sodium silicate lumps with molar ratio of silicon dioxide to sodium oxide (SiO2/Na2O) greater than 3.2.

 

Non-mandatory description: cargo appears in colourless to green glassy solid lumps. Bulk density: 1,100 - 1,500 kg/m3. Non-IMSBC Code information: an alkaline chemical. Inorganic substance. Uses  ranging from chemical industry (as raw materials for syntheses e.g. precipitated silica, catalysts etc.), detergent industry ( as alkali, buffering agents, corrosion inhibitors), pulp and paper industries, adhesives (e.g. tube winding, foil lamination, etc.), textile processing, water and waste water treatment to paints, plasters, special coating materials.
