Seed cake containing vegetable oil UN 1386 (b) type

Description

Mandatory application of this seed cake schedule: the full BCSN is SEED CAKE, containing vegetable oil UN 1386 (b) solvent extractions and expelled seeds, containing not more than 10% of oil and when the amount of moisture is higher than 10%, not more than 20% of oil and moisture combined. In essence, UN 1386 (b) covers the following : (1) all solvent extracted and expelled seed cakes containing not more than 10% oil and not more than 10% moisture; and (2) all solvent extracted and expelled seed cakes containing not more than 10% oil and moisture content higher than 10% which case, the oil and moisture combined must not exceed 20%. 

 

For solvent extracted seed cakes where the oil or oil and moisture content exceeds the percentages stated in this entry, guidance shall be sought from the competent authorities. Please see "cargo certificates" section for seed cake exemptions for certain cargoes.

 


Description: Residue left behind after oil has been either expelled mechanically or extracted by a solvent process from oil-bearing seeds. Examples of seed cakes (cereal and cereal products) include those coming from: Bakery materials-Barley Malt Pellets-Beet-Bran Pellets-Brewers grain pellets-Citrus pulp pellets-Coconut-Copra-Corn gluten-Cotton seed-Gluten pellets-expellers, Groundnuts, meal-Hominy chop-Linseed-Maize - Mill feed pellets-Niger seed, expellers-Oil cake-Palm kernel-Peanuts-Pellets, cereal-Pollard pellets-Rape seed-Rice broken-Rice bran-Safflower seed-Seed expellers, oily-Soya bean-Strussa pellets-Sunflower seed-Toasted meals. Often used in animal or poultry feed.
