First BIMCO 2020 bunker clause fast tracked for October

BIMCO will produce several clauses dealing with specific issues related to 2020, as making one clause to fit all concerns was deemed unworkable. The first 2020 clause – focused on compliance - may be published as soon as end October.

The new digital BIMCO Bulletin is out

The new BIMCO magazine the “Bulletin” is out and zooming in on challenges and questions asked ahead of the 2020 sulphur cap. “Sulphur cap consequences will draw focus for two years,” BIMCO’s Secretary General, Angus Frew, points out in his foreword. Bad bunker risk will rise in 2020: Bunker states must take action

Recent reports of a rise in fuel contamination cases have increased the industry’s concerns over quality and safety of blended fuels as 2020 approaches. And for a good reason. A spike in demand for new low sulphur blends from 1 January 2020 will greatly increase the risk of contamination. It is with great sadness that we can inform our members that Carsten Melchiors has passed away after a period of illness.
