Vessel Traffic Separation

Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) is mandatory for the following:

1.

Vessels of 17m in length and over (including composite units)

2.

Vessels carrying dangerous goods in bulk (gas, chemicals, petroleum or petroleum products)

3.

Unloaded tankers if not cleaned, degassed or completely inerted after carrying petroleum or petroleum products with a flashpoint below 35°C

4.

Nuclear powered vessels

Vessel Traffic Service Reporting: It is compulsory for all vessels to send the following reports:
Sailing Plan (SP): A SP must be sent to VTS Centre Wismar Traffic on VHF
Ch 12 as follows:

1.

When entering the VTS Area from seaward 1 hour before passing Wismar Landfall Lightbuoy or Offentief Landfall Lightbuoy.

2.

Before leaving a harbour or berth within the VTS Area of Wismar.

Position Report (PR): A PR must be sent to VTS Centre Wismar Traffic on VHF Ch 12 as follows:

1.

After pilot embarkation

2.

When leaving the fairway

3.

When entering or leaving an anchorage or berth within the VTS Area of Wismar
