As such, charterers and owners will have opposing interests related to holidays, but both parties may be located far from the ports and countries of the port call.

In the process of expanding its global reac h and to better provide services to members in the Americas, BI M CO has hired Thomas Damsgaard to head its new office in Houston , United States . BIMCO also has ambitions to open an office in Brussels.

BIMCO improves clause labelling to help reduce disputes

BIMCO has decided to start labelling all versions of its standard clauses with the year of publication, including the original edition, with the aim to reduce disputes over which version parties have agreed to.
