No Turning Back - new BIMCO film puts spotlight on transparency and decarbonisation

Published: 08 November 2021

As pressure on industries, governments, and companies to decarbonise increases, so does the need for the shipping industry to inform the public and decision makers and increase transparency about the industry’s efforts to decarbonise.

Earlier this year we launched two films, “Ships Make the World Go” and “Seafarers Deserve Support”, to highlight the plight of seafarers and the importance of shipping to world trade during the pandemic. The new film “No Turning Back” tackles the environmental impact of shipping and serves as a tool to help raise awareness, educate and increase visibility of the industry’s work towards decarbonisation. We hope that by telling our stories in this way we will demonstrate that the shipping industry understands the challenge and is committed to finding solutions.

Last week David Loosley, BIMCO Secretary General and CEO, introduced a screening of the film to policy makers and industry players at the “Shaping the Future of Shipping” conference which ran alongside the COP26 in Glasgow. “No Turning Back” is not branded a “BIMCO film” and we are actively encouraging members to use and share the film, and our previous films, as widely as possible.

All three films can also be downloaded and shared here.
