First BIMCO 2020 bunker clause fast tracked for October

BIMCO will produce several clauses dealing with specific issues related to 2020, as making one clause to fit all concerns was deemed unworkable. The first 2020 clause – focused on compliance - may be published as soon as end October.

Bad bunker risk will rise in 2020: Bunker states must take action

Recent reports of a rise in fuel contamination cases have increased the industry’s concerns over quality and safety of blended fuels as 2020 approaches. And for a good reason. A spike in demand for new low sulphur blends from 1 January 2020 will greatly increase the risk of contamination. Lars Robert Pedersen, Deputy Secretary General of BIMCO calls for bunker states to take responsibility.

Ship financing just got less complicated

BIMCO has developed a new standard term sheet for syndicated ship financing (SHIPTERM S) – the first industry standard of its kind for syndicated loans. The term sheet was approved for publication at BIMCO’s biannual Documentary Committee meeting on May 2 in New York.

BIMCO applauds new IMO emissions-strategy

“The IMO has done something no one has done before: set an absolute target for emission reductions for an entire industry. It is a landmark achievement in the effort to reduce emissions, and something that every other industry should look to for inspiration,” says Lars Robert Pedersen, BIMCO Deputy Secretary General and delegate at the IMO meeting.

BIMCO project shows 80% admin-workload reduction for masters

The Maritime Reporting Model (MRM), developed by BIMCO and partners, can reduce the administrative workload for ship masters by 80% in connection with port calls.
