The Port of Oulu has been investing heavily in new equipment and facilities in response to growing demand for its services and a significant rise in cargo volumes. This has allowed the port to keep pace with the continuing rise in throughout and to remain a competetive option for cargo forwarders in northern Scandinavia. Recent investments have also been made with a view to the possible transformation of the port into a regional hub as it competes for a share of the growing trade with emerging markets in north-west Russia.
