Advise agent at least 72 in advance. Vessels expecting to arrive during a weekend or on a Monday, must send their ETA message so as to reach the agent before 0900 hrs on the previous Friday.

Any subsequent change in ETA in excess of 2 hours must be reported promptly. When vessels are 10 miles from the harbour entrance, they should inform the Harbour Control by R/T or establish direct contact by VHF.


Radio advice to ''Harbour Master'' - direct through Durban radio - 48 hours prior to arrival, advising ETA, draft freeboard and reason for calling.

Arrival

Vessels to report to Durban port control at 12 Nautical miles and at 6 Nautical miles from the Fairway Buoy.

To the Harbour Master – 48 hours prior to arrival, advising ETA, draught freeboard and reasons for calling at the port and any hazardous cargo being carried.

To Port Health – between 24-48 hours prior to arrival, advise ETA, last port of call, date sailed, number of crew, full inoculation and vaccination status and state of health of crew and requesting radio entry.

Please note that all pre-arrival messages must be sent via Cape Town Radio at telex (095 511600) as stipulated in Marine Notice 19. Alternatively, if the vessel does not have telex, arrangements can be made with Cape Town Radio for messages to be sent to their e-mail address(maritimeradio@ixmail.co.za).Failure to strictly adhere to the laid down procedure may result in delays.
