Crew Issues

There are no specific requirements other than those of government agency New Zealand Customs.  New Zealand Customs require that:
People who are not landing in New Zealand (e.g., staying on the ship all the time it is in New Zealand) are not immigrated, and therefore not considered to have arrived.  There are no particular restrictions on any nationality.

Crew changes are possible within the Port of Otago. In order to facilitate immigration processing, New Zealand Customs must be advised prior to the intended crew change. Intended crew changes are specified within the craft ANA, Inwards report, Outwards report or upon notification from the master of the vessel.
All persons arriving in New Zealand are required to produce documentation that satisfies the requirement for their legitimate entry to New Zealand.
• New Zealand Passenger Arrival Card
• Passport (or other acceptable travel document)
• Visa (restricted passenger/crew)
• Outward airline ticket
All persons departing on a ship within New Zealand are required to produce documentation that satisfies the requirement for their legitimate departure from New Zealand.
• New Zealand Passenger Departure Card
• Passport (or other acceptable travel document)

Crew shore leave is generally at the Master ' s discretion.  New Zealand Customs require that all persons arriving in New Zealand are required to present themselves to an Immigration/Customs officer. Exceptions to that rule are crew who depart on the same sea craft within 28 days of their first arrival in New Zealand.
