Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) regulations have entered into force as of 01 November 2022. Applicable vessels will need to demonstrate that its attained EEXI meets its required EEXI on an annual basis. The attained EEXI indicates the ship’s energy efficiency compared to the baseline determined by IMO. In the outset, the EEXI regulation is intended to make existing ships generally meet the design energy efficiency index of new ships (EEDI phase 2) by means of technical modifications.
