Macro Economics - China is spearheading the global recovery

Global economy: World growth is now projected at 4.6% in 2010. Relative to the April 2010 World Economic Outlook (WEO), this represents an upward revision of about ½ a percentage point in 2010, reflecting stronger activity during the first half of the year. At the same time, Eurozone downside risks have risen sharply amid renewed financial turbulence.

Toby is HFW’s Singapore Head of Shipping and APAC Head of our global Crisis Management team. Toby’s work involves managing major marine and energy disasters, which are often complex, involving a number of interrelated actions in a number of jurisdictions. He is also recognised for insurance coverage and other marine and energy related commercial and contractual disputes.  Toby has practical experience of working as a marine surveyor in Houston. He has also acted as head of the legal team at a leading Lloyd’s syndicate dealing with marine, energy and war risks.  Toby is qualified in England and Wales and joined HFW as a solicitor in 2001. He became a Partner in 2007 and relocated from our London office to Singapore in 2017.

Joe is a Senior Cyber Intelligence Analyst in Control Risks’ Cyber Threat Intelligence team with the responsibility to lead on strategic analysis and more complex threat assessments. He is responsible for ensuring high quality intelligence is delivered by the cyber threat intelligence team through both subscription and bespoke engagements with clients. Joe is also responsible for the development of the team’s collection capabilities and in delivering capacity building initiatives. Prior to joining Control Risks, Joe was a senior intelligence analyst working for the UK Ministry of Defence, specialising in understanding electronic warfare and cyber threats, where he delivered strategic, tactical and technical intelligence assessments to partners in the UK, Five Eyes, and NATO intelligence community and beyond. Joe’s particular focus was on Maritime threats. He was also responsible for managing a team of intelligence analysts with a variety of technical and strategic portfolios.
