Stinne is Vice President and Head of Claims and FDD in Skuld Copenhagen. She has been with Skuld since 2015. She holds a Master of Laws from the University of Copenhagen (2003) and was admitted to the Danish Bar in 2011 and obtained admission to the High Courts. She holds a PhD in International Company Law and has held a position as External Lecturer at the University of Copenhagen in addition to publishing articles and a book. Before joining Skuld she held a position in DanishShipping from 2013-2015 and in Gorrissen Federspiel Law Firm from 2008-2013 in Copenhagen.

Henning Nielsen is Senior Manager, Support & Advice at BIMCO, is responsible for advising and guiding members on contractual issues, such as handling laytime disputes, recommendations on charter party forms and clauses, commenting on terms and clauses offered to members, handling disputes on interpretation and construction of charter parties and clauses. Henning has been with BIMCO since 1984. His 40 plus years of experience has built up his expertise in laytime and demurrage issues, which is widely recognised by BIMCO members.

Stephen Mackin is a lawyer at the international law firm Clyde & Co and he specialises in shipping and energy related issues particularly those arising from the carriage of oil and gas by sea. Stephen qualified in 1994 and was with Eversheds Sutherland for 25 years before joining Clyde & Co. He speaks regularly at conferences worldwide. He has spent five years with Shell Tankers (UK) Limited and has practical experience of the operation of VLCC’s, product tankers, LNG tankers and bulk carriers. He was Shell’s “cadet of the year”, a watch-keeping officer with Operation Raleigh and has sailed the Atlantic on a Tall Ship. He is regarded by Chambers Directory as a “leader in his field” and described as being the person you want on your side when you have a dispute.

Merete Lund Greisen is Head of Support & Advice and has been with BIMCO since April 2013 and is responsible for advising and guiding BIMCO members on contractual issues and disputes. This involves recommending the right charter party forms, commenting on terms and clauses agreed (and to be agreed), interpretation and construction of charter parties and clauses. In addition to many years of relevant experience from the chartering departments of shipowners/operators, her background also gives her a cargo owner’s point of view in all chartering aspects.

Haris Zografakis is a partner at Stephenson Harwood LLP, London and head of the firm's commodities team. He has consistently been singled out by both main legal directories, Chambers and Legal 500, as a leading individual in his areas of expertise. Over more than 20 years, he has dealt with all aspects of trading and shipping petroleum and its products, acting both for traders and shipowners, as well as their respective insurers. He has lectured in four continents, including events organised by BIMCO, universities, as well as the International Maritime Organization and others, and has also served on the editorial board of the Shipping and Transport Law Journal and on the Council of the London Shipping Law Centre.

Peter Storm, Manager, Support and Advice at BIMCO, is responsible for advising and guiding BIMCO members on contractual issues and disputes. This includes recommendation of relevant charter party forms, advice on terms and clauses, as well as guidance regarding interpretation and construction of charter parties. Peter’s shipping career began as a trainee in 1994 with a Danish shipowner where he gained experience in both operational and commercial roles. He worked for many years with a major brokering firm holding a variety of positions as a shipbroker before joining BIMCO in 2013.Peter has also been employed within the financial sector for several years.

The guidance covers issues of training and competency for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) and helps interpret IMO requirements for ECDIS training. Discrepancies have arisen between flag states’ regulations and training that is aimed at meeting the IMO standards.

The Standard Naval Exercise Contract, NAVEXCON, was developed for the short-term charter of merchant ships to participate in military navigational exercises. In order to properly train military personnel in navigation techniques and to familiarise them with the handling of modern merchant tonnage, regular training exercises are conducted by many navies. This type of training is also useful for familiarising merchant navy personnel with the sort of pilotage techniques likely to be encountered in time of conflict.
The latest edition of this contract is NAVEXCON, issued in 1996.

The result of a cyber security survey launched by BIMCO, Fairplay and ABS Advanced Solutions shows that while the number of cyber related attacks within the last 12 months has declined; protective measures, training and awareness need to improve.
