BIMCO SmartCon information and available contracts

There is a new version of BIMCO SmartCon and it combines the fast, simple and easy approach from the online version, together with the track changes and comments from Word. The editor is online and you don't need to install anything, the only requirement is that you have the latest version of a modern browser like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

We want your opinion on the new edition of BARGEHIRE

BIMCO has been busy updating BARGEHIRE 2008 and the project is close to completion. But before we finalise and publish the new edition in March, we would like to hear the views of barge owners, operators and charterers. Your comments and views received by 13 January 2021 will help shape a successful new BARGEHIRE. Paul has spent 14 years working in shipping and Admiralty matters. Prior to this Paul was at sea for 16 years with the last 9 years in the offshore sector, including taking command roles in DP classed vessels. Paul qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and advised on LOF and common law salvages around the UK as well as contractual disputes under the various towage contracts such as the UKSCT, TOWCON and TOWHIRE and equally SUPPLYTIME. He has regularly advised on the drafting and implementation of wreck removal contracts, acting for contractors as well as Clubs. He also gives seminars to clients on the various BIMCO and ISU contracts to assist them in choosing the most appropriate contract for their particular circumstances. Paul has recently been elected as the Secretary to the Admiralty Solicitors Group (ASG). The ASG is comprised of established maritime legal firms and was formed in 1972 to promote and preserve standards in the practice of maritime law in England. The ASG meets regularly to discuss recent issues and maritime practice.

Slew of new contracts and clauses top BIMCO committee’s upcoming meeting

Projects for standard contracts and clauses covering almost every sector of the shipping industry will be reviewed by BIMCO’s Documentary Committee (DC) when it meets on 21 and 22 September. The gathering of over 70 documentary experts from around the world will take place online for the first time and two new contracts and two clauses are set to be approved for publication.
