The UN Ocean Conference sets the tone for understanding international priorities for ocean protection, a barometer of feeling towards industry and environmental priorities, and how shipping fits within the global context. From highlighting the BIMCO position on underwater radiated noise and conveying the need for harmonised regulation based on sound science – through to demonstrating the work being undertaken to address the plastic footprint of shipping we are committed to representing our members on the international stage.

We are heading to the UN Ocean Conference - arguably the most important event in the calendar for invigorating ocean action in support of Sustainable Development Goal -14- Life below water. We’d love to hear your views on how you are striving towards achieving SDG-14.

BIMCO supports global seabed mapping initiative

Knowing the depth and shape of the seafloor (bathymetry) is fundamental for our understanding of ocean circulation, tides, sediment transport and environmental change. Currently, and despite many years of effort, less than 20 per cent of the ocean seafloor has been mapped. Therefore, BIMCO supports the Seabed 2030 initiative and encourages the industry to contribute with input into the project via an online survey.
