BIMCO participated in the second workshop at IMO for the preparation of the initial strategy on reduction of GHG emissions from ships last week in London.
Lars Robert Pedersen, Deputy Secretary General of BIMCO, will serve as the moderator for the session on the second day, exploring the theme of "Smart operations & logistics - What’s next in Digitalisation, Automation, and Innovation to drive efficiency?".
BIMCO has received some enquiries relating to two cargoes: wood pulp and pulp wood in particular on their differences as well as whether fixed CO 2 fittings were required on ships to carry these cargoes.
Reducing the amount of plastic litter in the oceans is a shared responsibility and requires a collective effort. By taking steps to reduce single-use plastics on ships, the shipping industry will contribute to addressing the global plastic litter problem. We know that many BIMCO members are taking decisive and positive action in this area and we are keen to learn from their experiences to help shape a bigger industry campaign.
