BIMCO attended the 5th session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 5) to further develop the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels.
On 5th December 2019, BIMCO held a one-hour long webinar session on the IMSBC Code, highlighting the difficulties that shipowners encounter when they are transporting solid bulk cargoes, together with some BIMCO recommendations put forward that could help improve the situation.
Based on information provided by a BIMCO owner member, BIMCO updates the information on UN 3077 environmentally hazardous solid bulk cargoes and its relation with the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes ( IMSBC) Code.

The second set of amendments made to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC) relates to tackling situations arising out of harassment and bullying on board ships and the extension of the validity of the MLC in cases where a new certificate cannot be issued immediately after a renewal inspection has taken place.
