The Emissions Trading System Allowances (ETSA) Clause 2022 for Time Charter Parties is now available to download free of charge from BIMCO’s website.
Many container operators use charter party trade limits as a sanctions management tool when operating liner services between non-sanctioned countries. To provide an alternative contractual solution and to proactively address the current trend to impose sanctions on the shipping industry, BIMCO is currently developing a sanctions clause specifically designed for time chartering container ships.
In view of the significant time and costs associated with court and arbitration proceedings, BIMCO has developed a standard clause for inclusion in charter parties and other contracts which makes it possible for the parties to solve disputes via alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and in particular mediation, early neutral evaluation and early intervention.
This year, BIMCO has expanded its ice reporting to cover the Northern Chinese, Japanese and Greenland sea areas, and can advise on contractual issues related to ice clauses.
