A new edition of BIMCO’s Dispute Resolution Clause has been published. New wording has been added to the US law, New York arbitration option to ensure that non-maritime contracts (such as shipbuilding contracts) are not inadvertently excluded from the scope of the clause.

Jessica is a Partner in Clyde & Co’s Marine and International Trade department. She has an international practice with an emphasis on shipping, trade and insurance work.
Jessica is an experienced BIMCO trianer. At the BIMCO courses, she is drawing on her significant experiences advising clients on both commercial and contentious matters. From a disputes perspective she works on cases in the English Courts and in LMAA and other arbitrations. She also advises on contracts and transactions in the marine and insurance sectors. Jessica regularly advises on disputes and commercial aspects of shipping contracts, including charterparties, bills of lading, shipbuilding contracts and ship management agreements. Jessica has a wealth of experience in cases concerning liquid, gas and dry cargoes, but has particular experience of energy shipping and tanker contracts and claims. Her clients include shipowners, charterers, ship managers, oil majors and other energy companies, traders and their insurers/reinsurers.

Chris is Of Counsel at the Houston office of international law firm HFW. His practice focuses on shipping, marine, and energy companies, including litigation and commercial transactions. He is an experienced trial lawyer, resolving disputes in federal and state courts and in arbitration. He advises clients in transactions involving charter parties, maritime contracts, offshore energy and master service agreements, and infrastructure projects with maritime law concerns. Chris also advises on regulatory compliance, including Jones Act coastwise trade and shipping regulations.
Chris has over 25 years of experience with charter parties, sale of goods and transport contracts, maritime liens, ship arrests and maritime attachment remedies, shipping casualties, bunker and cargo disputes, marine pollution, and many issues in the shipping industry. In the energy sector, Chris has experience in upstream and midstream commercial disputes and casualties, onshore and offshore. He has been a speaker and author on topics including bunker contracts, OSV charter parties, coastwise trade laws, offshore drilling, and many maritime law issues.
Before practicing law, Chris sailed as a professional mariner on chemical tanker, crude oil tanker, and general cargo ships.

Elizabeth is a lawyer qualified in Hong Kong, England and Wales, and Australia. She has been based in Hong Kong since 2008.
Elizabeth has significant experience on the wet side of shipping, having worked on a number of high profile casualties and groundings across the Asia Pacific region. Other particular areas of expertise include jurisdictional challenges and forum disputes, limitation of liability, maritime insolvencies, disputes involving the carriage of goods by sea, and trade finance and banking disputes with maritime law elements.
Elizabeth has litigated in the Courts of Hong Kong, England, and Australia. She has also acted in a large number of international arbitrations, and has managed litigation and enforcement proceedings on behalf of clients in jurisdictions including the PRC, Singapore, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India and the United States.
