Cristan Evans is a partner at Stephenson Harwood LLP and specialises in the resolution of shipping and trade disputes. He provides practical, commercial advice with the aim of resolving the most complex disputes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Cristan acts for shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and their insurers in disputes arising under charterparties, bills of lading and contracts of affreightment. He has acted in Court proceedings and in arbitrations conducted under the LMAA, UNCITRAL, LCIA, FOSFA and GAFTA rules.
An experienced commodities lawyer, Cristan also acts in sale contract disputes for buyers and sellers involving commodities such as petroleum products, coal, vegetable oils/oil seeds and biofuels.

Nick is Partner at Stephenson Harwood. Nick specialises in disputes arising from casualties and has extensive experience of handling the “front end” investigation, both from the office and on site. In particular, Nick handles claims following collisions, explosions and fires, groundings, salvage and general average, coverage advice and charterparty disputes.

Christopher specialises in all aspects of marine litigation and arbitration, commercial litigation and international trade disputes. He is renowned throughout South East Asia for his admiralty capability and his practice covers all aspects of shipping disputes to include collisions, salvage, charterparty disputes, bills of lading, cargo claims, tug and tow disputes, stevedore damage claims, personal injuries/fatal accident claims, insurance coverage issues and P&I insurance matters generally.
Christopher is recommended as a key member of the Shipping team in the Asia-Pacific 2019 editions of Chambers and Legal 500. In particular, Chambers 2018 mentioned that clients appreciate his "prompt attendance to matters and situations," noting that "his efficiency in providing advice or strategies is effective in shedding light on the next step."

Peter Grube is Head of Training: Courses and joined BIMCO in 1990. His first position was in the Support & Advice team, where he assisted BIMCO members with a wide range of commercial issues. In 2000 he was appointed Marketing & Sales Director of BIMCO, responsible for promoting and driving forward BIMCO’s global position as a leading maritime organisation. In 2005 he transferred to BIMCO Training, developing, coordinating and delivering BIMCO courses and seminars world-wide. Prior to joining BIMCO he worked in ship ownership in Copenhagen as well as sale & purchase in Greece. He is a graduate from the Danish School for International Marketing & Export and is a Chartered Shipbroker (FICS). He holds a Master’s in Education and Learning from Roskilde University (RUC).

Henning Nielsen is Senior Manager, Support & Advice at BIMCO, is responsible for advising and guiding members on contractual issues, such as handling laytime disputes, recommendations on charter party forms and clauses, commenting on terms and clauses offered to members, handling disputes on interpretation and construction of charter parties and clauses. Henning has been with BIMCO since 1984. His 40 plus years of experience has built up his expertise in laytime and demurrage issues, which is widely recognised by BIMCO members.

Christian is BIMCO’s General Counsel. He is a lawyer and graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a Master’s degree in 2001 and an LL.M. with Distinction from the University of Southampton in 2004. He worked in the Secretariat for maritime policy at the Danish Maritime Authority from 2001, until joining the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Transport and Energy in 2005 where he worked until 2009.
Christian has been with BIMCO for 10 years, providing legal and policy advice in-house and to members and representing the association at various international meetings. He is managing a number of the association’s contracts and clauses related projects, including the ones relating to the development of term sheets for ship financing. Christian was recently seconded to Danish law firm Gorrissen Federspiel, one of the leading advisors within the maritime industry, and was admitted to the Danish Bar in February 2019 (practice certificate deposited).

Maite Bolivar Klarup is BIMCO’s General Manager in Singapore. Maite joined BIMCO in 2016 and her main role is to provide information and advice to members on a variety of key issues- from piracy to bunker quality and navigational safety. Maite is also responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with all relevant maritime governmental and inter-governmental authorities in the region and to create awareness of all of BIMCO’s activities and benefits for potential members. She has more than 17 years of international maritime experience from Southeast Asia, Europe, North and Latin America. She holds an Executive Master of International Business Administration in Shipping and Logistics from Copenhagen Business School.
