BIMCO Shipping KPIs is a valuable system for all shipping companies irrespectively of size. For larger owners and managers with offices in many locations, BIMCO Shipping KPI offers a variety of tools to make data collection more tangible.
One of these tools is to separate the fleet in Business units, which splits out the fleet at the user’s discretion. An owner/manager may choose to keep owned ships in one business unit and managed vessel in another business unit. If multiple types of ships are operated, each business unit could consist of different types, e.g. tankers in one business units and bulk carriers in another pool.
Business units is an option that allows users flexibility and overview. There are no limits to the number of business units a user can create, but ships can only be designated to a single business unit.
To create a business unit, go to the “My Company” section of the website and find the “Business Unit” sub-section. In the upper right corner, a new business unit can be created when clicking on the “Add new” as illustrated below.
