BIMCO’s Chief Shipping Analyst will be participating at the INTERCEM Shipping Forum in Rome, Italy on 22 January 2019 and the Slide2Open Shipping Finance Conference in Athens, Greece on 24 January 2019.
On 22 January in Rome, Peter Sand will present ‘Tales from the interface between dry bulk shipping and cement’ scheduled for 9:45am.
He will be discussing how freight rates in the dry bulk market control the freight rates in the cement market, as well as providing insights into BIMCO’s services for players in the cement market including BIMCO’s cargo database and set standards for contracts.
Other participants at the INTERCEM Shipping Forum 2019 include Kerim Erben, Deputy CEO and Group Shipping Director of HC Trading in Turkey, Simon Cox, senior partner at Howe Robinson Partners in the United Kingdom and Ad Ligthart, partner at Cement Distribution Consultants in the Netherlands.
The Forum will be held at the Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel & Spa in Rome, Italy between 21 January and 22 January 2019.

On 24 January in Athens, Peter Sand will give a presentation on the three main shipping markets, crude and product tankers, dry bulk and containers. He will discuss the trends and drivers in these markets, including supply and demand factors and the outlook. Peter Sand will also touch upon the upcoming 2020 Sulphur Cap and its commercial implications for the shipping industry.
The conference chair will be Martin Stopford, President of Clarkson Research. The chair of the organizing committee will be Basil M. Karatzas, CEO of Karatzas Marine Advisors & Co. The moderator will be Yuri Bender, Editor-in-Chief of Professional Wealth Management at Financial Times.
The Conference will be held at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens, Greece on the 24 January 2019.
