BIMCO has received the following warning for ships operating in Southeast Asia. 

Nigerian navy bans embarked security teams

BIMCO and INTERTANKO met with Rear Admiral Osondo, Nigerian Navy’s Head of Standards and Transformation who was directed to brief the Nigerian Chief of Naval Staff on issues related to security in Nigerian waters.

BIMCO President speaks about opportunities and threats for shipping from digitalisation including stressing the human element

The BIMCO President Mr Papagiannopoulos highlighted the main opportunities and threats for shipping coming from digitalisation at the 3rd ShipIT conference in Athens on 27 September 2017. The opportunities and threats include the admin burden on board ships, autonomous ships, blockchain, cyber risk management and not least the human elements of all these issues.

Introduction of a Maritime Security Transit Corridor in the Bab Al Mandeb

Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) have introduced a Maritime Security Transit Corridor linking the Internationally Recognised Transit Corridor (IRTC) in the Gulf of Aden and the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the lower Red Sea.
