Brown Marmorated Stink Bug Risk season commences 1 September with updated measures

For the new 22-23 season beginning September 2022, Australia is introducing changes to the measures for brown marmorated stink bug which will apply to vessels carrying goods from target risk countries as well as emerging risk countries.

Australia has updated measures with the commencement of the 2022-23 Brown marmorated stink bug ( BMSB) season that starts on 1st September.

The main changes are :

  • Emerging risk countries for this season are China and United Kingdom.
  • Chapters 39, 94 and 95 will be subject to random inspections for these two countries. However, target risk countries are not affected.
  • Inspect (unpack) inspections will now apply instead of Secure (Seals Intact) inspections at Approved Arrangements.
  • 120 hour policy amended for goods that have been rolled ( with evidence).
  • Updated Master Consolidator User Guide on management of Less than Container load (LCL)/Freight all kinds ( FAK) containers webpage.
  • Creation of BMSB resource hub providing BMSB fact sheets
