Dr. Bev Mackenzie, Head of Intergovernmental Engagement at BIMCO, will participate in a panel at the 2nd WMO-IMO Symposium on Extreme Maritime Weather to discuss how to improve dialogue across all sectors of the maritime and metocean communities, enhancing safety at sea and strengthening continued collaboration.

IMO is bringing together ship owners around World Maritime Day to discuss the problems that extreme weather events cause to ship operations and their impact on efficiency. The focus will be on how to avoid disruptions and maintain safety. BIMCO's Bev Mackenzie will specifically examine the complex relationship between commercial shipping practices and “good,” “bad,” and “extreme” weather, exploring how this complexity might lead to improvements in the use of metocean information by the shipping industry. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube for those unable to attend IMO meetings in person.

Date & time: Thursday 26 September, 08:30-10:00 UTC
