Direct reduced iron (B) - lumps, pellets, cold moulded briquettes

Direct reduced iron (DRI) has been divided into 2 types in the IMSBC Code. One category deals with hot moulded briquettes and the other deals with cold moulded briquettes, which is the category here. The full name in the IMSBC Code is Direct Reduced Iron (B), Lumps, pellets, cold-moulded briquettes; in short - DRI (B). DRI (B) is a metallic material formed from a manufacturing process by the reduction (removal of oxygen) of iron oxide at temperatures below the fusion point of iron. DRI (B) is highly porous and is black/grey in colour. In addition, according to the IMSBC Code, cold-moulded briquettes are those that have been moulded at a temperature less than 650 degrees Celsius or which have a density of less than 5,000 kg/m3. Note that fines and small particles under 6.35 mm in size shall not exceed 5% by weight. Used as feed for blast furnaces. Bulk density: 1,750-2,000 kg/m3.
